Desde el Estado: Uplifting People Power & Promising Leaders

Mijente PAC employs its’ Desde el Estado approach as one way to reach el Buenvivir. We take the fight to our democracy and demand equity, fair representation, y mucho más. And we’re able to support identified progressive leaders with our times, funds, and resources. We believe that it is critical to have our gente in key roles of government office. Uniquely, we are also committed to keeping them accountable to our gente when they win.

2022 Electoral Endorsements

Mijente PAC engaged in the largest expansion and development of our electoral efforts this year including 18 candidate endorsements. With great honor, we supported 5 Mijente members running for office on all levels, and we succeeded in seating 3 pro-pueblo candidates in Congress. Further, in a time when the media thought the “red wave” was certain to pass, we helped hold it off.

Significantly, we had campaigns running in 9 states across the federal, state and local levels: in Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Massachusetts, New York, and California. In all, we held dozens of phonebanks and textbanks, and recruited hundreds of volunteers! We contacted and reached thousands of voters — at the doors, on the phones, and online.

On the federal level we endorsed

Delia Ramirez, Greg Casar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cheri Beasley, Michelle Vallejo, and Jessica Cisneros

On the state level we endorsed

Lilian Jimenez, Oscar De Los Santos, Stacey Abrams, Beto O’Rourke, and Rochelle Garza

On the local level we endorsed

Eunisses Hernandez, Carlos Garcia, Ricardo Arroyo, Maxine Rebeles, Rebecca Zapien, Bulmaro Vicente, and Bob Libal

This is just the beginning. We know we have the power to make changes that impact our everyday lives for the better. Political leaders need to be accountable to us. Until then, Mijente PAC will continue to fight for our gente to have a seat at the table and keep supporting new leaders.

2020 Electoral Endorsements & Efforts

In 2020, we resolved to get Trump out of office — and we won. 20.6 million of Latinos showed up and showed out. Our gente voted in record numbers, and made a huge difference to flip Arizona and Georgia! Together, we said FUERA to Trump and fought to beat back white supremacist right-wing forces all across the country.

Then, when it became clear that both Georgia Senate seats were headed to a runoff election, we partnered with our compas at the Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR) Action Network to back the two Democrat candidates and win the majority in the Senate in our Georgia con Ganas campaign.

In the end, we contacted every Latino voter in Georgia — knocking more than 310,000 doors, dialing more than 257,000 cell phones and landlines, and sending more than 376,000 texts. As a result of Black, Latinx, and AAPI grassroots organizing and voter outreach, the Democrat candidates Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock won their elections.
